A scheme called National Means cum Merit Scholarship (NMMS) for students studying in Std. 8 from MHRD, NEW DILHI for the purpose of reducing the drop out rate in secondary and higher secondary schools. Has been implemented. The examination will be held in the near future by the State Examination Board, Gandhinagar to select the beneficiary students.

. . . Scholarship Amount and Payment Rules: Monthly Rs. 1000 / – per annum for Rs. 12000 / – Scholarship will be available to eligible students for four years. Scholarship payments are made by the eligible students as per the guidelines of MHRD by making fresh and renewal application on National Scholarship Portal and verifying the application on the National Scholarship Portal by the concerned school and concerned district nodal officer. D) will be credited directly to the bank account of the beneficiary students by New Delhi. Only examinations are conducted by the State Examination Board. The State Examination Board will not be responsible for the scholarship.

Eligibility of students: Students studying in Government Primary Schools, Local Body Schools (District Panchayat / Municipal / Municipal Schools) and Granted Primary Schools in Std. 8 in the current academic year will be able to appear for the N.M.M.S examination.

They will be able to take part in NMMS Exam-2021 without considering the minimum marks in special case. Students of private schools (private schools / self finance schools), Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and residential schools run by state government institutions which provide accommodation, meals and study facilities will not be able to fill up the application form in this examination. – Income limit:. . . The annual income of the guardian of the candidate should not be more than Rs.1,50,000 / – as decided for NMMS examination. A certified copy of the guardian’s annual income sample must be attached with the student’s application form. (Example of an official authorized by the government should be attached)

National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship scheme (NMMS) is a centrally sponsored scheme, to award scholarships to meritorious students hailing from low income backgrounds. The motive behind this scheme is to encourage students to continue their education and thus minimize secondary school drop outs. This initiative was launched in May 2008 and a scholarship of Rs.6,000/- is awarded for four years i.e from class IX to XII, to the students who clear the examination.
